Preparing to have rides again

Cycling UK have confirmed that we can start to operate some club rides. Each ride must have no more than six riders, and we must remain 2m apart from each other at all times. We're currently discussing how best to organise these (see the discussion on our email group) and hope to announce our first rides soon.

This reflects the change in government rules: people are now permitted to "meet outdoors with groups of up to six people from different households, provided social distancing is observed and you stay 2 metres away from anyone outside your household or support bubble." (Details on www.gov.uk)

Cycling UK have updated their guidance: Coronavirus Q&A: is it safe to cycle?. They have also published some Tips for socially distant cycling and provided some specific Advice and guidance for group cycling.

We are routing for you!

Rupert writes: We've launched our route library, containing a growing list of carefully-planned, recommended routes. Do take a look. Initially we're focusing on shorter routes designed for solo riding during the current lockdown. We will be adding more routes soon, including routes suitable for our own club rides.

We hope you enjoy using these routes. Please try them out and let us know how you get on. You can email Rupert if you have any suggestions for improvements, or if you spot any errors. Please keep it brief and put the word "routes" into the subject line. Rupert, Runs Secretary
